Production Notes Album 2

  • Jan. 20th, 2010 at 10:04 PM

Opera baby...opera...

Open to suggested arias to study as well as pieces of classical music, at this point I'm doing research into the baroque era music for inspiration for the general style and feel of album 2...the first half at least.

Epic concertos, beautiful vocals, choral work, all culminating in a grand finale with the Dame De Fer's magestic maiden voyage from the grasps of Charles Yaxton, then it's on to a wild west flair with the first heist, the seige of the ship, the march of the raiders, the epic stand off and the triumphant return of the iron maid.

Yeah...got big plans for this one...

Big big plans...

This next album will be grand, epic, ornate, beautiful, horrific, and perhaps the best of all? Breaking ground we've never thought possible. Pushing the envelope on this one.

Album 2 - Name to be determined

  • Jan. 19th, 2010 at 4:26 PM

So remember how Dramatis Personae would be considered an ambitious project? This next album will make Dramatis Personae sound like two kids with casios and a karoke machine.

I guarantee it!

In character, figured it will help me really develop a certain voice for Allison as well develop a lil story day by day. The format will be in the form of a first officer's log.

The ship's cook Collette Lovelace will be doing the same as well as Anne Fernal's closest friend Harry Barker.

Anime USA went well, I'm exhausted, it's been draining but ultimately satisfying meeting people who love our music face to face. We sold roughly 500.00 worth in cd's and gave away a few to the tech staff and those who made the show possible.

Special thanks to Dr. Steel's Toy Soldiers for hanging out with us, Jet, Sargeant Sheehan, James Towne, Emory, The General, Ninja Legion, Kevin, Caroline, Chris, THE AWESOME TECH CREW AT ANIME USA, Mr. Fullerton (spelling?)for loaning us his teaset, Elizabeth for taking some fantastic pictures, and the list goes on and on.

Highlights: Black Jack at the tea party, mexican standoff with Ninja Legion, scones, honoring the accord with Ninja Legion, our concert, playing gambit and failing miserably, Raving for one hour but still having a blast. Being asked in the bathroom on whether or not I worked for Kaya. Hearing Sergeant Sheahan verbally blast a rude otaku. And finally a lovely weekend with those who work with me and who I respect and admire (believe it or not!).

Lowpoints: Waking up at 6 am screaming something after a dream of one of the con's lead acts running after me on Sunday. Waking up at 6 am in general. Waking up Monday morning AFTER the con to go to work...BEING AT WORK AFTER THE CON.

Future things...
1) Katsucon? Hells yes but nothing confirmed.
2) Steampunk Worlds Faire? Possibly as an instrumental duo (Johnny and I)
3) Dragoncon? Working on it
4) Otakon? Working on it
5) Steamcon? To be worked on
6) Ravenwood? To be worked on

Memorial Quotes....
(Something Dave said that shall not be mentioned if this LJ is being monitored by Kaya)

Weekend status

Mixing down status - Most of it done
Hours slept this weekend - 4
Red Bull consumed - 8
Hours wasted on hulu - 5
Hours spent on WoW - 1
Hours spent with puppy (on lap)- pretty much the entire time

That pretty much sums it up!

The Clockwork Dolls live show will no longer consist of the same ol' thing.

Oh no...

I want bears...bears on unicycles, bears on balls, bears dancing all with funny cute hats each playing an instrument.

Then for no guns allowed in my bar we'll have an all bear cabaret.

And I mean bears, I want ursine goodness...although for a twist I might ask a bear in a bear costume to bare it all.

BEARS IN BEAR COSTUMES BARING IT ALL.

Good schtick. I'm keeping it...

Yep still alive

Day/Week in Summation

  • Aug. 24th, 2009 at 11:24 PM

With a projected deadline of Mid September to have final polished tracks I'm down to the home stretch with two original pieces pending.

This past weekend was a huge waste of time so I have to play a bit of catch up...unfortunately during the work week so we'll see exactly where this goes. I haven't been updating this nearly as much as I should but it's because it's essentially crunch time and there is a LOT of stuff on my plate both band related and real life (Remember that?)

So to those reading, I'm sorry, to those who don't...well that's a bit of a moot point, but there will be a bit of radio silence until I finally get this thing done. Then..well..a retrospective post is most likely in the works.

It's raining it's pouring

  • Aug. 18th, 2009 at 7:25 PM

And it suits my mood just fine.

It's been a rough day.
Not going to spill my guts out because it's all a mix between the usual bullshit to band bullshit to my personal life bullshit.

But yeah...what a day...
I got some sleep to catch up on and a full day to rest.

That is all.

Solo work ideas

  • Aug. 18th, 2009 at 12:46 AM

I've been working extensively on a dark ambient side project in my mind and it's starting to become clearer in my mind what storyline I should base it off of.

Once I'm finished with The Clockwork Dolls album or two I might consider taking a break to get this out there, will it be instrumental? Most likely, maybe a few vocoded pieces of prose but for the most part ambient. Either way I'm starting to map this out in my head.

Take that genius bar!
